KATIE GRAND LAUNCHES NEW STYLE BIANNUAL WITH CONDÉ NAST
Katie Grand, the creator and Editor-in-Chief of Pop magazine, is to launch a new style title. It will be published twice a year by Condé Nast, with the first issue arriving on newsstands in March 2009.Produced in a bespoke size, slightly larger than most monthlies, the magazine will be edgy and experimental, an exciting new entry into the style sector. It will be produced to the highest editorial and production standards. Nicholas Coleridge, Managing Director of Condé Nast, comments: "It is a new departure for Condé Nast UK to publish an edgy, high-end style title in this sector, and in Katie Grand we have the perfect Editor who brings the perfect team. This promises to be a very exciting launch."Katie Grand recently stood down from her post as Editor-in-Chief at Pop, the magazine she founded in 2000, and which set the standard for the slew of glossy fashion biannuals that followed. A hugely personal project that allowed her to experiment with new ideas in fashion and art, Pop was fun, edgy and influential in equal measure, becoming the magazine that the creative industry would turn to for inspiration. It allowed her to draw on her experience and influence as a highly sought-after fashion stylist – she has worked on the collections and advertising campaigns for many luxury brands, including Prada and Louis Vuitton. The new title is the fourth magazine to be set up by Katie Grand, who has a proven track record in successful launches. She set up the style magazine Dazed & Confused with friends Jefferson Hack and Rankin in 1993; a year later she became the launch editor of an experimental, fashion-led Dazed off-shoot, Another, which is now a fashion biannual. Pop was originally launched as a sister title to The Face, where Grand was Fashion Director from 2000 to 2003, and quickly grew to eclipse the famous Eighties style bible. The new launch will be an exciting, compelling mixture of experimentation and enthusiasm in the ever-changing fields of fashion and art. As work begins on the first issue, Katie Grand says: “I can’t wait to get started. I feel the time is ready for a new magazine, a new arena for new ideas. This time we’ll have a larger format, bigger budgets and broader horizons than ever before. With the wholehearted support of Condé Nast, there will be nothing to limit our imagination.”Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Condé Nast International adds: "I've admired Katie Grand and her work for many years. It's terrific that she's creating a new magazine for Condé Nast."There will be a further announcement revealing the name of the new magazine at a later date.
